Flora and Fauna of Aotearoa is a new group based in Northland. They organised a conference in Titirangi in April 2019 that brought a lot of people together from all over NZ who share a passion for a poison-free Aotearoa and kaitiakitanga that is affirming of community and environmental well-being. I NaturalistNZ is a fantastic resource for learning about NZ species. There is also an app that can connect you to the NZ citizen scientist community. You can upload your observations of species and connect with a nationwide and global database. https://inaturalist.nz/pages/links_nz

The Russell State Forest Sustainability Plan is an Organic Vision of the seven marae that surround the forest. This group of local guardians, Nga Kaitiaki,was established by concerned locals of the Russell and Cape Brett State Forests. This saw whanau, hapu, landowners, shareholders, hunters, trappers and local residents come together for a common cause – to stop aerial applications of 1080 poison.
